#39: Settling in

  • by

Today I officially had my first day at my master’s. It was pretty heavy, being a 4-hour lecture-lab combo, but it sure felt good to be back. Also, we had our introduction days during last week, which was a ton of fun.

I was pretty relaxed about the whole getting-to-know-people thing. I know I’m decently good at it, and I enjoy it very much, so I was excited for the intro days to start.

It exceeded all my expectations.

It was such a pleasure seeing these strangers turn into friends in such a short time. Getting to know different cultures, talking about food and drinks, sharing stories about the hometowns. It was magical.

I also think I was pretty successful in my quest to get to know people from everywhere. Using my father’s tactic of being ultra-open came in pretty handy, I made friends with basically everybody I came across. I cooked some huge meals, inviting people to eat together, which is like a really easy way to make friends.

I am excited to see where our future goes with these guys, but I certainly have a really special group of people to share my days with.

As always, thanks for reading, and I hope to see you next time,

G
